A fascinating discussion is definitely worth comment. There's no doubt that that you ought to write more on this issue, it might not be a taboo subject but usually people don't speak about such
topics. To the next! Many thanks!!

It may not be useful in every situation but it's certainly another useful tool in the toolbox for those moments when it'll prove useful. My whole need for this was to allow people with direct database access to easily build the XML files they needed. Plus I had an idea for using them in combination with triggers so they'd automatically be generated if the data related to them changed :)

This actually seems remarkably simple, I've tended to generate XML in ColdFusion in the past, but will have to give this a try sometime!

There was some support for Railo as an extension already, can't remember how well it worked. The main issue was the scheduled task for collecting statistics periodically. Railo doesn't (haven't checked recently) have a server-level area for scheduling tasks and I hadn't broken down Railo support enough to support tasks at a web-context level.

If enough people wanted it, I'd probably put the effort in. Never really got enough feedback from people to know if it was worth continuing.

No idea sorry. I would have thought they'd be pretty quick to update them. May be that your browser is caching the image? Try adding something like ?ts=1234598546 to the end of the URL.

Nice idea but the by the time your ColdFusion code starts executing, the upload has already finished. So when you check CGI.ContentLength, the upload is already present on your server in a temporary location. My workaround is simply to avoid having to move the file (which is all CFFile Upload actually does) if it's file extension isn't to your liking.

Hope that makes sense :)

Shame, it seemed like a good tool.

Just wanna post this:

Why this is not the right way of doing it:

The trick is simple: CGI.CONTENT_LENGTH
Stop the upload before it begins!
